Summer 2026 has been a very special one for Books at One Louisburgh, as we celebrated 10 years since the shop first opened its doors in 2016.
From a derelict building to a thriving space for both locals and visitors alike, we couldn’t be prouder of everything the last decade has brought. The weekend’s celebrations were no exception, with a wonderful turnout for our jam-packed programme of events.
From an incredible opening by Enda Kenny and his fascinating interview of award- winning biographer Anne Chambers, to sugán making, traditional music by Shrallabawn, and a pop-up Gaeltacht, we loved seeing the community get involved with everything on offer.
We were also hugely grateful to authors Una Mannion, Gill Perdue and Paul Lynch, and their interviewers – Lorna Shaughnessy and Gerladine Mitchell – for making the time to travel to Louisburgh and discuss their incredible best-selling titles.
With hidden golden tickets and book giveaways (a special thank you to Argosy for sponsoring our book prizes!), we had a fantastic time welcoming a wide variety of people through our doors. Children especially enjoyed our Storytime event with author Anne Printer, as well as a treasure hunt and arts and crafts session on Sunday.
We couldn’t be more thankful for our incredible community and all their support in making this weekend, and indeed the past decade, a reality. A special thanks also goes to our local sponsors: Beacherie Café, Louisburgh Area Men’s Shed, and Gala, Louisburgh.
